"One snowy January day in Paris, La Cozna’s Pierre-Antoine Despartures, Benjamin Garson and Clementine Ristord, met with the English singer Mary Hampton to record ‘Proud Maisie’, their darkly glimmering response to the famous poem by Walter Scott, which describes a lone woman walking through the woods at dawn and talking to a robin, in a mysterious meditation on love and death. With “Fiere Marguerite," La Cozna unfolds Scott's strangely captivating work in a new way. In this brighter version, the poem is sung in French by Nicolas Jacobee, and unfolds itself anew against a delicately coloured sonic tapestry, which is entirely sampled, cut, and pasted from the original tracks. We present them both here for your listening pleasure… Long may the conversations continue."
